FOREIGN POLICIES OF THE UNITED STATES AND CHINA TOWARDS ISRAEL - The Cases of the Phalcon AWACS and the Harpy Uav Crises

This book analyses foreign policies of the US and China towards Israel since the early 2000s until 30 June 2024 with a special focus on the defence industry crises of the Phalcon AWACS and the Harpy UAV through neo-realist theoretical framework. It also touches on the US and Chinese foreign policies towards the Middle East because Israel locates in the Middle East. The book attempts to illustrate that shift in relative distribution of capabilities/power in the international system led to intensifying US-China competition which has influenced their foreign policies towards Israel. Israel has faced an impasse of satisfying conflicting demands of the US and China. In such an environment, the Phalcon AWACS and the Harpy UAV crises in triangle of the US, China, and Israel broke out. In both the Phalcon and the Harpy crises, Tel Aviv yielded to the US demands by terminating these deals with China although it was willing to fulfil its obligations under these agreements.
